An employee at a CNY developmental disabilities residential facility is accused of assaulting a resident, state police said.
Deborah A. Cannan, 63, of Lowville, was charged Friday with second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent physical/disabled person and third-degree assault, both misdemeanors, officials said.
Cannan, an Individualized Residential Alternative worker, is accused of pushing an elderly male resident, causing him to fall into a bookcase, troopers said.
The facility is located at 5331 Dayan St. in the village of Lowville.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the Lewis County Emergency Room for internal injuries, troopers said.
Cannan was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Lowville Court later this month, police said.
